Thanks to everyone for all the messages of thanks and well wishing, certainly was good to get out of Vegas hospital and down to Burger King for a solid meal as I was on starvation for a while untill they decided wether they were going to operate or not, which Im glad they did as they found another dislocated bone in my hand. Healing well at home and got to spectate at Palmy Sunday eve at the 248s.
The racing was hard and fast as usual and congrats to the top 3 placegetters as they were well deserved. Hard thing spectating as the feet get a little itchy, but thats life I guess.
A little news, well I guess the picture says it all. Yes the car is sold, but you will still see it with a P on the door as its staying in Palmerston North, and all going well you should see me in it at least 1 more time before the season ends.
And as for next season, watch this space . . .

New Zealand F1 BRISCA Stockcar
Had this beauty out for a couple of runs now, check out the videos, some more pictures comming soon.
Thanks to the Palmerston promotion I was granted a clearance to race at my old track for this title, it was nice to do a meeting back there as I haven’t raced there for quite a while, but when I turned up with a field including Steve Hampton, Scott redfern, Malcom Ngatai, John Booker, Pete moseley and yes Wildass Worthington was back. This meeting was one to be worked for.
The first race drew grid 13, I got a clear break and got a good second behind Steve 66r, then the second race a grid 8 led me to a win so lucky me top points for the final, but with a P on my car and pacman and wildass with my number on their dash, it wasnt going to be easy, but after a skin of my teeth manouver around Worthington and a half spin courtesy of Malcom Ngatai, managed to scrape through for a 1 point victory. I knew at the end of the race I had it, so did a 360 in front of where my wife and 2 kids (10 and 11) were sitting and their comment was "if youre gonna do them dad try and get it right" KIDS CAN BE SO HARSH ha ha !!
Wildass lining me up . . . . . . . . . and missing (phew)

New Seaon begins 08/09
The start to my season was a rainout for the first meeting at Palmy and when they ran next week I had a prior engagement so meeting 1 for me was the Robin pratt memorial for stockcars, with Dean Bullock giving me the opportunity to drive his car (thanks Dean). For the first time I was able to run 2 cars for the night (bloody hard work) this meeting is a big event on the Palmy calendar and I was lucky enough to place second overall to Peter Rees, who Trish was very happy to see win.
Onto the Superstock and the big thing here was I got to wrestle the flag off the flying Shane Penn (he did get caught up though) and a couple of seconds finished off the night,
overall a good night

Off season update
Oct 2008 Sorry for the lateness in getting an update to you all but here we go
The off season went pretty fast as im sure you all agree, I was fortunate enough to be invited on a trip to the Formula 1 GP in Singapore , what an awesome event nothing like speedway but unbelievably fast and an amazing atmosphere.
The car got the usual once over as you can see, all looking good for the upcomming season.
The weekend started on thursday night with practice, while the car was handling well the dreaded missfire was back , so the car was taken back to palmy for a look.
Then on to friday night was on to qualifying, this all went to plan with a top of group qualifying spot, which incidently was paying $3 at the TAB, this coming from a win a second and a third place.
Finals Night was a mixed bag really getting caught in almost every incident in the first heat,i felt like i took more hits than Elvis, costing me any chance of the title, but a glimmer of hope for a podium finish Maybe!, Heat 2 was hard work with a big spin sending me infield and across the corner, after letting the place i gained past me and passing him back on the track, SNZ still felt in their eyes that i should be relegated 2 places taking me from 1st to third in the race, Bugger!! In the last off grid 19 and 3 false starts finished in about 5th place leading to a 5th equal with Campbell Mcmanaway overall finish which im pretty happy with and had an enjoyable weekend of hard fast racing,
Congratulations to Kyle 1nz Wayne 2nz and Daryl 3nz
Maybe my turn Next Year !!!! who knows ?
Cheers

AWESOME WEEKEND
18/19 January 2008 World Champs 20/01/08
The world 240`s meeting has always been an enjoyable meeting and this year was no exception, from the start of qualifying night to the runoff with frankie on finals night, and not to mention the Scott miers heating system in the pitsafter the meeting !! We had 1 win and a couple of minor placings to qualify top in our group. Saturday we worked on the car at Herbies (Rotorua auto electrical) special thanks to him as he is always very helpfull when we are in town. Saturday night always brings out the best in all the competitors, grid 3 was drawn so we were lucky enough to get a win, the second heat was grid 16 and we managed a 4th, that meant top points (only by 1) into the last heat, we started well from grid 22 but Stan Hickey turned me and as i got going and came up on frankie new if i finished here we would tie for points as he was 1 behind me going out, this lead to the runoff, knowing the skill of the man i knew i had to run a mistake free 4 laps lucky enough it went my way and a 3rd place for the weekend rounding off a pretty enjoyable 2 days. Rotorua and Sonja Hickey put on a great show and i`ll be there with bells on next year.
Cheers Roydon C
Superstock Series Napier 05/01/08
After a setup and a bit of work in the workshop, we headed for Napier for their round of the Placemakers superstock series, the first race the track went from drivey to slick but from grid 17 managed to come in 2nd, the next race started grid 5 and led for a number of laps untill Shane penn slipped through and took the win, pretty hard to hold back the silver bullet on a track he knows pretty well, next race was grid 17 again and on a pretty slick track managed another second, taking me on to the round win, which after a bumpy start to my season was very happy with. The next challenge now is to see if i can pick up a chequered flag somwhere, who knows !!
Cheers

Latest Update 03/01/08
On the 27th Earnie (the track man) was very accomodating to us and let us have a practice around stratford and all seemed good so we decided to head for rotorua for the north islands, we arrived there on friday, had a practice all felt good, untill we were parked on the grid for parade and the engine had an internal hiccup so our weekend was over.... you can understand the dissapointment !!
We travelled home and took the engine out delivered it saturday night to bryan Hartley, he was awsome!! and worked hard to have the engine ready by monday , new years eve, Keith bought it to my workshop in Hawera on morning of the second january , we put it in and de ja vu off to stratford for a run, we run in the first stockcar race from off the back, but they had 38 cars on the track and i got involved in an incident so pulled off, Thanks to Stratford track and staff they let me have a run by myself, the car seems good and with a few gremlins sorted and a little adjusting we hope to get it going pretty good.
Thanks to Nick for all his help getting the car ready Paddy for driving to palmy for me, Keith and Pete for there work and also special mention to Cameron Hurley from Zodiac signs for his short notice work to get the car signwritten and paul (the brother in law) who came to visit and got to help in the workshop !! and also Bryan from the head shop for his efforts.
So we are off to Napier for the super series this weekend (5th jan)
Cheers

Start to the 07/08 season underway 13\10\07
As you are all aware Robertson Holden Speedway opened on saturday night and the new car is well on the way but not quite ready, so the opportunity to drive the promotion owned car was good as i could still start the season which just happens to be my 20th year in superstocks, and really looking forward to the season. Saturday night was one to forget as the ignition on the car let us down but the car seemed to be handling good, but 2 dnfs is not a good start so we will get the wiring for that sorted and run the same car next week. The new car is on track for its debut the week after, so then we can get that sorted and see how we go!
Cheers
